Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Carries Out Personnel Changes for 1,504 Education Officials, Including Head Office Directors, Superintendents, and Principals
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-seong] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on the 12th that it had carried out personnel changes affecting a total of 1,504 people—principals (directors), vice principals (deputy directors), teachers, and education specialists—effective September 1.
In this round of personnel changes, the Provincial Office of Education focused on deploying talent with the practical capabilities and sense of responsibility to root Gyeonggi education's new vision of ‘human-centered education in the AI era’ in schools, and to build ‘schools where students are excited to attend, teachers are respected, and parents can feel reassured.’
In particular, in order to steadily pursue the era's task of the ‘Great Transformation of Gyeonggi Education,’ it sought to establish principles of fair personnel management based on capability and performance, breaking away from seniority-based ranking and refraining from courtesy appointments prior to retirement.
In addition, the head office was reorganized around province-level planning and policy functions, and the proportion of personnel deployed to district offices of education and school sites was increased, so that the personnel changes would allow teachers to concentrate on teaching and support the growth of each individual student.
Teacher personnel changes totaled 1,164, including △45 transfers from education supervisors (education research officers) to principals (directors) △6 transfer reappointments of principals (directors) △72 reappointments of principals (directors) △87 transfers of principals (directors) △33 promotions upon completion of open-recruitment principal (director) terms △183 promotions to principal (director) △28 open-recruitment principals (directors).
Also included were △58 transfers of vice principals (deputy directors) △1 transfer from an education supervisor (education research officer) to vice principal (deputy director) △52 transfers from education supervisors (education research officials) to vice principals (deputy directors) △2 reinstatements (returns) of vice principals (deputy directors) △215 promotions to vice principal (deputy director).
In addition, there were △6 appointments of senior teachers △4 teacher transfers △2 transfers from education supervisors (education research officials) to teachers △19 teacher reinstatements (returns) △1 teacher transfer from another city/province △350 newly appointed teachers.
Education specialist personnel changes totaled 340, comprising △2 head office directors △1 policy planning officer △11 superintendents △3 heads of affiliated institutions △8 head office division chiefs △7 district office of education directors △39 head office education supervisors △29 district office of education division chiefs △10 department heads and education research officers at affiliated institutions △140 education supervisors (education research officials) △90 newly appointed education supervisors (education research officials).
Kim Eun-sil, head of the Teacher Personnel Policy Division at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “In this round of personnel changes, we worked to deploy talent that will serve as a foundation for creating schools where teachers can concentrate on teaching and students can develop their individual potential,” adding, “Recognizing that the starting point of the Great Transformation of Gyeonggi Education is the school, we will continue to discover future-oriented leaders through fair personnel management based on capability and performance, and firmly support school sites.”
