Hwaseong Special City Holds Citizens' Public Hearing on '6th Community Social Security Plan'

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) held the 'Citizens' Public Hearing for Establishing the 6th Community Social Security Plan' on the 12th at the Civil Defense Training Hall on the 3rd floor of the Hwaseong Sports Complex Town, with some 200 people including citizens and social welfare experts in attendance.

This public hearing was arranged to reflect diverse citizen opinions in the process of establishing the 6th Community Social Security Plan, which will set the direction of Hwaseong Special City's future social security policies. The hearing proceeded in the order of △a report on the planning process △a report on the draft plan △a Q&A session.

The Task Force for Establishing the 6th Community Social Security Plan was formed as a public-private cooperation system involving 107 people, including private experts and public officials across 13 social security fields, with Shin Hyun-ju, Director of the Care and Welfare Bureau of Hwaseong Special City, and Lee Jung-ho, Chairperson of the Private Members of the Hwaseong City Council Body, serving as co-directors.

The task force closely analyzed the region's welfare needs and resources, and through field-specific meetings, identified 40 social security projects and 18 community social security development strategy projects under the goal of 'a Greater Happiness City of Hwaseong Where We Care for and Enjoy Together.'

The city plans to reflect the citizen opinions raised at this public hearing in the plan and, after deliberation by the Hwaseong City Community Social Security Council Body and a report to the Hwaseong City Council, submit the final draft plan to Gyeonggi Province by this September.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said, "The 6th Community Social Security Plan is an important plan that presents the direction of welfare policies that citizens can feel in their daily lives," adding, "We will faithfully reflect the diverse opinions of citizens raised at this public hearing to establish a fine-grained social security system tailored to regional characteristics and welfare demands."

Meanwhile, the 6th Community Social Security Plan is a four-year mid- to long-term plan established under the 'Act on the Use and Provision of Social Security Benefits and the Identification of Eligible Recipients,' and is prepared by comprehensively reflecting citizens' social security needs and the region's welfare resources.
