Suwon Jangan-gu Public Health Center has installed an oral health room at the Suwon Municipal Senior Nursing Home for the first time, and starting on the 13th, it will provide customized oral care services to resident seniors.

The oral health room, set up on the first basement level of the nursing home, is equipped with a dental unit chair and medical equipment. Dentists and dental hygienists from the Jangan-gu Public Health Center will visit the nursing home to manage the oral health of 145 resident seniors who have difficulty moving.

The main services include △oral health education △oral examinations △fluoride application △tartar removal △periodontal treatment △early cavity treatment, among others. By providing regular oral care, the plan is to reduce discomfort when the seniors chew food and to prevent health deterioration caused by oral diseases.

The Jangan-gu Public Health Center will also conduct theoretical and practical oral care training for 60 care workers at the nursing home, enhancing the caregivers' oral care capabilities so that they can check and manage the oral condition of resident seniors in daily life.

The oral health room will operate through December this year, continuously providing caregiver training and oral care services for resident seniors.

An official from the Jangan-gu Public Health Center said, “By installing an oral health room at a care facility for the first time in Suwon, seniors who have difficulty moving can now receive safe, professional oral care within the facility,” adding, “We will expand services to protect the oral health of medically underserved populations.”
