A : This is dark coffee they got here.
B : But it costs an arm and a leg.
A : Well it's your own fault!
B : What!? why?
A : You always buy those fancy speciality coffees. Just get a regular Americano.
B : But these taste so much better.
A : 여기 진한 커피 한잔 대령이오.
B : 근데 너무 비싼 것 같아.
A : 글쎄 그건 네 책임인 것 같은데!
B : 뭐라고? 어째서?
A : 넌 항상 좀 특별한 커피를 사잖아. 그냥 아메리카노나 마셔.
B : 비싸도 맛은 더 낫잖아.
- 옛날에 팔과 다리가 포함된 전신 초상화가 가장 비싼 가격에 취급됐었는데요, 이것에서 유래해 ‘cost an arm and a leg’라고 하면 ‘cost a lot of money’와 의미가 상통해 ‘비용이 많이 들다, 비싸다’라는 의미가 된답니다.
