B : Chances are slim!
A : Wow! You haven't gotten a raise for how many years now?
B : It's been three years! The company keeps losing money and they can't afford to give anyone a raise.
A : That's too bad. Did you ever think of working somewhere else?
B : Yeah. In fact, I have an interview next Monday.
A : 올해에 급여가 오를 거 같아?
B : 거의 희박해 보여.
A : 와 도대체 몇 년 동안 안 오른 거야?
B : 3년이야, 회사가 계속 적자여서 아무도 급여가 오르지 않았어.
A : 정말 안됐다. 다른데서 일할 생각은 안 해봤어?
B : 응 사실 다음 주 월요일에 면접이 있어.

문장의 과거를 만들 때에는 동사를 과거형으로 바꿔서 표현하면 됩니다. 일반동사의 과거형은 기본적으로 동사원형에ed 형태를 띠고 be 동사는 'was, were', do동사는 'did'로 변합니다. 일반 동사의 과거의문문이나 과거부정문을 만들 때에는 did 를 사용해서 만듭니다. 예를 들어 ‘너 어제 숙제했어?’라고 묻고 싶으면 ‘Did you do homework yesterday?’ 라고 하면 됩니다. ‘아니 숙제 안 했어’라고 대답하려면 ‘No, I did not’라고 하면 됩니다.
