A : Why are you so late? I was beginning to think that you were standing me up.
B : No, I’m really sorry. The first round is on me. We just moved and I couldn’t find anything. And I didn’t realize how long it would take.
A : A new apartment? That’s always exciting. Tell me about it.
B : We outgrew our last apartment. It was just too small.
A : What part of town did you move to?
B : We moved to Yangjae-dong.
A : 왜 이렇게 늦었어? 난 네가 나를 바람맞히는 줄 알았어.
B : 아니야. 정말 미안해. 첫 잔은 내가 살게. 우리 막 이사해서 뭘 찾을 수가 없었어. 그리고 얼마나 오래 걸릴 지도 몰랐고.
A : 새 아파트? 그건 항상 설레지. 아파트에 대해 얘기 좀 해줘.
B : 지난 아파트가 비좁아졌어. 그 아파트가 너무 작았지.
A : 어느 동네로 이사 갔어?
B : 양재동으로 이사했어.

‘stand up’은 특히 연인 사이에 사용되며 비격식적인 표현으로 ‘~를 바람맞히다’라는 의미입니다.
Ex) I didn’t mean to stand you up. Sorry you waited so long. (바람맞힐 생각은 아니었는데. 너무 오래 기다리게 해서 미안해.)
‘outgrow’는 몸이 자라서 옷 등이 맞게 되지 않는 것을 의미하는데 위 대화에서는 어떤 장소에 사람이 많아 맞지 않게 됨을 표현하고 있습니다.
Ex) Emily has already outgrown her school uniform. (Emily는 벌써 너무 자라 교복이 맞지 않습니다.)
