A : It might sound strange, but I think I prefer Boxing Day to Christmas Day.
B : Boxing Day? What's that?
A : Don't you know? It's what we call the day after Christmas Day in the UK. It's a national holiday, just like Christmas Day.
B : What's so special about it?
A : Well, it's like Christmas Day, but without all the work. You can eat the leftovers from Christmas dinner, and usually, friends and relatives come to visit.
B. Sounds nice. And I suppose you can finish all the beer and wine that is left from Christmas Day!
A : 이상하게 들릴지는 모르겠지만 나는 크리스마스 보다 Boxing Day가 더 좋아.
B : Boxing Day? 그게 뭐야?
A : 몰랐니? 영국에서는 크리스마스 다음 날을 Boxing Day라고 불러. 크리스마스처럼 공휴일이야.
B : 그게 왜 그렇게 특별한데?
A : 음, 크리스마스의 일을 제외한 크리스마스 같은 거야. 크리스마스 디너에 남은 음식들을 먹을 수 있고 친구들이나 친지들이 방문을 하지.
B : 좋다. 크리스마스 때 남은 맥주나 와인 모두 끝낼 수도 있겠네.

‘Boxing Day’는 주로 영국의 공휴일로 12월 26일 즉 크리스마스 바로 다음 날입니다.
‘prefer’는 ‘더 좋아하다, 선호하다’라는 의미입니다. ‘~보다 ~를 더 좋아하다’라는 표현을 할 때 ‘prefer ~ to ~’가 되며, ‘~보다’라는 의미를 하기 위해 ‘than’ 대신 ‘to’가 사용됩니다.
Ex) We prefer indoor activities to outdoor activities. (우리는 실외 활동보다 실내활동을 더 좋아합니다.)
