A: Looks like the DJ is playing the last song for the night.
B: I'm really disappointed, I thought this party was going to last longer.
A: I guess not, but I guess those are the breaks.
B: Suppose so, what do you want to do now?
A: Me? I'm going to bed it's almost 5 in the morning.
B: Alright then, I guess I'll see you around.
A : DJ가 마지막 노래를 트는 것 같은데.
B : 정말 실망스럽다. 파티가 더 오래 진행될 줄 알았는데.
A : 그러게, 다 그렇지 뭐.
B : 그런 것 같다. 지금 뭐 할래?
A : 나? 자러 가야지. 거의 새벽 5시야.
B : 그래 그럼. 다음에 보자.

last는 ‘지난, 마지막의’의 의미로 자주 사용되는 형용사이지만 동사로 ‘지속하다, 계속되다’라는 의미도 있습니다.
Ex) I know their relationship wouldn’t last long. 나는 그들의 관계가 오래가지 않을 줄 알았어.
‘Those are the breaks.’는 ‘세상 일이 다 그렇지 뭐.’라는 의미의 표현인데 ‘the breaks’가 방향이나 운의 전환 및 변경을 나타냅니다. 비슷한 의미의 표현으로는 ‘That’s how(the way) the cookie crumbles.’가 있습니다.
Ex) That’s the way the cookie crumbles in this world. 세상일이 다 그렇지 뭐.
