A: I can’t seem to locate where our file folders are for this court case.
B: It seems this place has become a bit of a mare’s nest ever since Janice left.
A: Who knew she’d be that important, right? Give me a hand with this box!
B: Alright, but why do you need it?
A: Just as I expected, the file folders are here as are the other files for the upcoming cases this week.
B: That was a close call. I think I should spend some time organizing the office later today so this doesn’t happen again.
A : 이번 법정 소송 사건에 대한 우리 파일 서류철이 어디 있는지 못 찾겠어요.
B : Janice가 떠난 이후로 우리 사무실이 너무 혼잡해진 것 같은데.
A : 누가 그녀가 그렇게 중요한지 알았겠어, 그렇지? 이 박스 좀 도와줘.
B : 그래, 하지만 왜 그게 필요한데?
A : 내가 예상했던 대로 이번 주에 곧 있을 소송들에 대한 다른 파일과 함께 그 서류철이 여기에 있네.
B : 아슬아슬 했네. 이런 일이 없도록 있다가 오늘 사무실 정리하는데 시간을 좀 할애해야 겠어.

‘a mare’s nest’는 ‘혼란 상태, 난잡한 곳’이라는 의미입니다. 원래는 ‘a rat’s nest’가 ‘엉망인 상태’를 나타내는 표현으로 사용되었는데 차후 ‘a mare’s nest’로 바뀌어 사용되었습니다.
Ex) My hair is a mare’s nest. 내 머리가 엉망진창이야.
‘a close call’은 ‘위기일발, 구사일생, 아슬아슬한 상황’을 나타냅니다.
Ex) That truck almost hit you. That was a close call! 트럭이 거의 너를 칠 뻔했어. 아슬아슬 했어!
