A: Do you think you could make it to her musical performance this weekend?
B: I don’t think so, I already have too much on my plate to attend something like that.
A: But this event is very important to her.
B: I know, tell you what. If you help me finish my work for this week I’ll be able to go.
A: Really? Alright, I’ll help you!
B: Thanks, I think she’ll be really surprised to see both of us there.
A : 이번 주말에 그녀의 음악회에 갈 수 있을 것 같아?
B : 아니 못 갈 것 같아. 난 벌써 그렇게 참석해야 할 곳이 너무 많아.
A : 하지만 이번 일은 그녀에게 매우 중요한 거잖아.
B : 알아. 저 말이지, 이번 주에 내 일이 끝나도록 네가 도와주면 갈 수 있을 거야.
A : 정말? 그래 내가 도와줄게!
B : 고마워. 내 생각에 그녀가 우리 둘 다 온 걸 보면 정말 놀랄 거야.

‘on one’s plate’는 ‘해야 할 의무가 있는, 하기로 되어있는’의 의미로 ‘have a lot/enough on my plate’는 ‘해야 할이 산더미처럼/충분히 있다’라는 뜻입니다.
Ex) I have a lot on my plate now. So please don’t bother me. 나 지금 할 일이 산더미처럼 있어. 그러니까 방해하지 말아 줘.
‘tell you what’은 제안을 할 때 사용하는 표현으로 ‘저 말이지, 좋은 생각이 있다, 실은 이렇다’ 등으로 해석됩니다.
Ex) I’ll tell you what: I’ll give you 10 percent discount as you’re our regular customer. 저 말이죠. 단골이시니까 10%할인 해 드릴게요.
