‘shoot the breeze’는 ‘목적 없이 이야기를 나누다’ ‘편안한 대화를 나누다’라는 의미의 관용어 구입니다. 미국식 표현은 ‘shoot the bull’이며 비슷한 다른 표현들로는 ‘chatter, chew the fat (영), chew the rag (미)’ 등이 있습니다.
Ex) We spent the evening watching the TV and chewing the fat. 우리는 TV를 보고 긴 이야기를 나누면서 저녁을 보냈다.
‘It looks like S+V, It seems like S+V’는 ‘~한 것 같다’라고 해석되는 비슷한 의미의 구문들입니다.
Ex) It seems like you’re always busy when I’m not. 내가 바쁘지 않을 때는 네가 항상 바쁜 것 같아.
