A : Did you forget to check the gas?
B : Oh, I'm low on gas. I've got to refill the tank.
A : Well, there's a gas station across the street and it's not too expensive.
B : Let's try that. Oh, that's great! The pump is out of order.
A : Looks like we've been followed by bad luck all day long.
B : Oh, come on. Let's try another pump. No big deal!
A : 가스 체크하는 것 잊었어?
B : 어, 가스가 다 떨어져가네. 가스를 다시 채워야겠다.
A : 음, 저기 길 건너편에 주유소가 있어. 너무 비싸진 않을 거야.
B : 저거 한번 해보자. 어, 아주 좋아. 펌프가 고장이네.
A : 우리 하루 종일 나쁜 운이 따르는 것 같은데.
B : 아, 이러지마. 다른 펌프로 해 보자. 큰 일 아니잖아!

‘be low on ~’은 ‘~가 부족하다, 얼마 안 남다’라는 의미입니다. 이 표현은 ‘I’m low on cash. 나는 현금이 부족하다.’ ‘We’re low on money. 우리는 돈이 부족하다.’ 또는 ‘The system is low on memory. 시스템에 메모리가 부족합니다.’ 등과 같이 사용될 수 있습니다.
주유소의 기름이나 가스를 모두 ‘gas’로 통칭하며 주유펌프를 ‘gas pump’라고 하는데 위의 대화에서처럼 그냥 ‘pump’라고 칭하기도 합니다.
