A : Where are the cookies? Don't tell me you ate them all! Again!
B : Yes, I did. I couldn't help it. They were so good.
A : I thought you didn't like cookies.
B : Well, I don't like cookies flavored with chocolate at all. But vanilla is different. I love them to death.
A : Huh, I didn't know that.
B : Well, tell you what, vanilla cookies taste even better with a glass of cold milk.
A : 쿠키 어디 있어? 또 다 먹었다고 말하지 마!
B : 응, 그랬어. 어쩔 수 없었어. 너무 맛있어서…
A : 난 네가 쿠키를 좋아하지 않는 줄 알았어.
B : 초콜릿 맛이 나는 쿠키는 전혀 좋아하지 않는데 바닐라는 달라. 정말로 좋아하거든.
A : 아, 나는 몰랐어.
B : 음, 있잖아. 바닐라 쿠키는 차가운 우유 한 잔과 같이 먹으면 훨씬 더 맛있어.

‘cannot help ?ing’는 ‘~하지 않을 수 없다’라는 관용표현으로 ‘cannot but 동사원형’과 비슷한 의미입니다.
Ex) I couldn’t but agree with her. 나는 그녀에게 동의하지 않을 수 없었다.
‘to death’는 ‘죽어 라고, 극도로, 까무러치게’라는 의미의 표현인데 다양하게 사용됩니다.
Ex 1) The picture frightened me to death. 그 그림은 까무러치게 무서웠다.
Ex 2) I’m bored to death. 지루해 죽을 지경이다.
