GBSA Selects 3 Projects in '2024 Robot Demonstration Support Program' Public Competition
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] The Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator (hereinafter GBSA) announced on the 19th that it had selected three projects as the result of the public competition for the '2024 Robot Demonstration Support Program.' A total of 240 million won in provincial funds will be invested in this demonstration program.
The Robot Demonstration Support Program is part of Gyeonggi Province's robot industry promotion support program, which the province is pursuing to accelerate the digital transformation of existing manufacturing industries by supporting the commercialization of advanced robot technologies.
GBSA selected the final three projects through an open competition, focusing on robot demonstration fields applicable to industrial sites or daily life such as logistics, medical care, and manufacturing, with each project receiving up to 80 million won in funding.
The three companies selected this time are AR247 Co., Ltd., Roboblock System Co., Ltd., and Adent Robot Co., Ltd. These companies are expected to demonstrate robot technology in various industrial fields such as food delivery, floor plastering work, and warehouse operations using previously developed robot process models, thereby enhancing the convenience of residents.
In this demonstration, AR247 Co., Ltd. will provide a service that connects restaurants around Gachon University with students for food delivery. It plans to demonstrate AI robot technology that autonomously recognizes surrounding obstacles and traffic lights during the delivery process and delivers automatically.
AR247 Co., Ltd. also obtained an operational safety certification for outdoor mobile robots from the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement. Based on this, AR247 Co., Ltd. plans to expand into service fields that deliver medicine or necessary items to elderly people living alone and seniors with limited mobility.
Roboblock System Co., Ltd. will demonstrate a robot that can automate floor plastering work after floor concrete pouring at construction sites. While the flatness of plastered floors at construction sites requires high-quality precision and objectified figures, work quality is determined by the skill level of specialized personnel.
Through the introduction of robots, an efficiency approximately three times higher than before is expected, and the company plans to pursue productivity and safety by improving the precision of floor plastering flatness and building an autonomous driving system.
Adent Robot Co., Ltd. plans to apply voice recognition to its mobile robots and demonstrate a solution that can work jointly with workers in logistics warehouses.
Deploying robots in logistics warehouses is expected to reduce workers' walking steps and fatigue, prevent incorrect loading, and thereby enhance competitiveness within the industry. If this demonstration is successfully completed, Gyeonggi Province, which has the largest number of logistics centers in the country, is expected to seize the opportunity to spread this by discovering a leading model for introducing robots in the logistics field.
GBSA President Kang Seong-cheon said, "As AI is being integrated with robot technology, the need for demonstration programs to secure industrial competitiveness is growing. In particular, this competition recorded a high competition ratio of more than 5:1," adding, "Through the demonstration program, we will actively discover promising robot companies in Gyeonggi Province and make further efforts to promote the province's robot industry."
