Gwangmyeong Deploys 'Citizen Safety Radar' Until Shin-Ansan Line Completion
[Suwon Ilbo=Cheon Ui-hyun] Gwangmyeong City announced on the 18th that it will activate a system to monitor safety throughout all construction phases until the completion of the Shin-Ansan Line.
The city held a ‘Joint Citizen Safety Declaration Ceremony’ on the same day in the main conference room of City Hall with citizen representatives and POSCO E&C, reaching consensus on establishing and operating a safety management system.
Mayor Park Seung-won of Gwangmyeong, Kim Gwang-woong, citizen representative, and Kim Dae-hyun, project director of POSCO E&C for the Shin-Ansan Line, signed the declaration. POSCO E&C will implement recurrence prevention measures through responsible construction applying the highest safety standards; the city will provide administrative support and operate an assurance confirmation system; and citizen representatives will take on the role of directly confirming the site and checking and proposing risk factors.
The private, government, and corporate sectors agreed to regularize ‘Citizen Assurance On-site Confirmation Days’ to jointly inspect major construction phases and safety management status. Mayor Park stated, “We will prioritize citizen trust and safety to create a nationwide citizen-participation-based safety management model.”
