Hwaseong City to Provide Gender Violence Support Information at Police Response Scenes
The Hwaseong Integrated Counseling Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence announced on the 21st that it will strengthen its system to provide support information directly to gender violence victims at police response scenes through cooperation with Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station and Hwaseong Seobu Police Station.
This cooperation was arranged through networking meetings that the integrated counseling center held during visits to each of the two police stations. Accordingly, ‘Gender Violence Support Guide for Hwaseong Citizens’ materials will be placed at police substations and boxes, as well as in police response vehicles, to be distributed to victims.
The guide includes psychological and emotional counseling, medical expense support, investigative procedures and legal assistance, and connections to administrative and welfare services. Regardless of whether criminal proceedings are initiated, victims can now receive information about support programs directly at the reporting scene.
Choo Hye-ri, director of the integrated counseling center, said, "The moment when a gender violence victim reports to the police is a very important time when they can be connected with necessary assistance," and added, "We will continue to work with local community organizations to ensure that victims can receive support and connections for recovery, wherever they may be."
