Hwaseong Special City Holds Communication Meeting for 'Youth-Friendly City Full of Opportunities'
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) held a '2026 Communication Meeting with Youth' on the 22nd at the Dongtan District Office conference room, where city officials exchanged various opinions on youth policy with members of the Youth Policy Council.
The meeting was organized to reflect diverse voices of young people in city administration and to jointly explore effective policy implementation directions that youth can experience. The meeting was attended by approximately 40 council members, including Chairman Yun Jae-won of the 5th Hwaseong City Youth Policy Council.
The city is promoting various youth policies aimed at creating a 'youth-friendly city full of opportunities,' one of nine major strategies, based on the values of 'happiness for all, greater Hwaseong' and 'growth, inclusivity, and fairness.'
Based on opinions from the meeting, the city plans to expand opportunities for youth policy participation and further activate the operation of the Youth Policy Council. In particular, the city will strengthen policy proposal functions by division to ensure that young people's voices from the field translate into substantive policies.
Additionally, the city plans to implement △youth policy forums △youth policy promotion support teams △youth policy idea contests △youth participatory budgeting △expansion of youth member ratios on various committees to broaden the foundation for youth to participate actively throughout the entire process from policy formulation to implementation.
Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun of Hwaseong Special City stated, "Hwaseong Special City is a young and dynamic city where youth make up approximately 30 percent of the total population," and added, "We will create a 'youth-friendly city full of opportunities' where young people can settle down for the long term, put down roots in life, and enjoy more opportunities and possibilities in areas directly related to life such as employment, housing, and culture and welfare."
