Hwaseong Special City Holds Second-Half Opening Ceremony for 'Mid-to-Late Career Happiness Campus'

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) announced that it held the opening ceremony for the second half of 2026 for the 'Hwaseong Mid-to-Late Career Happiness Campus' on the 27th at Room 204 of the Engineering Building at Hyupsung University.

The Hwaseong Mid-to-Late Career Happiness Campus is a project that utilizes facilities at the local university Hyupsung University to help mid-to-late career workers successfully plan their life transitions. It supports various services including counseling and education, community activities, social contribution, and job placement.

The second-half educational programs are composed of a total of 16 programs reflecting the diverse interests and needs of mid-to-late career age groups. Major courses include △the Well-Life Planner program △Happy Wood Furniture Making △Practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Course for Office Workers △50s-60s Instructor Debut Project, with diverse courses ranging from practical liberal arts applicable to daily life to strengthening professional competencies.

Approximately 180 people attended the event, including Choi Eun-hee, chairperson of the Hwaseong City Council's Health and Welfare Committee, city council members, Shin Hyun-ju, Director of Childcare and Welfare, Choi Byung-ju, Head of Hyohaenggu Office, Seo Myeong-su, President of Hyupsung University, and students of the Happiness Campus, celebrating the start of the second-half education together.

The opening ceremony proceeded with congratulatory remarks, a business report, and a commemorative photo session. Subsequently, an introductory special lecture was held on the theme of 'The Dignity of Words More Important in the Second Act of Life,' which received enthusiastic response from the students.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myeong-geun said through a video message, "In the era of living to 100, mid-to-late career workers are not at a time to wind down their careers, but at an important turning point in life to unfold new possibilities based on the experience and capabilities they have accumulated," and added, "Hwaseong Special City will solidly support mid-to-late career workers' new challenges from customized education to employment and entrepreneurship, and will help their experience and capabilities continue to be valuable in the local community."
