'Lallala House Bookstore' Initiates Expanded Support for 'Reading Stay' Program

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 28th that it operates a 'Reading Stay' program that allows exceptional readers in the region to enjoy reading and cultural experiences together at distinctive local bookstores.

The Reading Stay program is part of Gyeonggi Province's 'Reading ON Gyeonggi' project, which brings reading culture to communities. Eligible participants include outstanding readers recommended by municipal and county public libraries, volunteer activities participants, and outstanding reading clubs selected by Gyeonggi Province.

The program began for the first time on the 25th at 'Lallala House Bookstore' in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. Members of Suwon's outstanding reading clubs participated in singing bowl meditation and healing writing programs, experiencing books and rest together.

On the 29th, in connection with the Icheon Public Library, the 'First Bookstore' in Moga-myeon, Icheon will host the 'First Confession' program themed on first editions and inaugural issues. Participants will read classics together, share stories, and have an opportunity to examine first editions directly.

The Province plans to sequentially operate Reading Stay programs through November this year, connecting municipal and county public libraries with local reading spaces.

Yoon Myung-hee, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Library, said, "It is deeply meaningful that public libraries and local bookstores are joining hands to invigorate the reading culture ecosystem," and added, "Going forward, we will expand collaboration with various local reading culture institutions to create a culture of co-prosperity with local reading spaces."
