[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun Reporter] The Gyeonggi Province Press Foundation Scholarship Association held its first regular board meeting of 2020 on the 12th and appointed Hong Ki-heon, founding chairman of the Gyeonggi Press Club Association, as the 11th chairman.
Newly appointed Chairman Hong will serve a two-year term as chairman of the Gyeonggi Province Press Foundation Scholarship Association, which was established in 1989 to help children of local journalists pursue their studies with pride and confidence.
Chairman Hong began his journalism career as an MBC reporter and has since served as representative director and president of Gyeonggi Ilbo, founding chairman of the Gyeonggi Press Club Association, chairman of the Suwon City Council, chairman of the Gyeonggi Multicultural Love Federation, and chairman of the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation.
At the board meeting, Kim Myeon-ki, a certified public accountant, and Yoon Jae-jun, former vice president of Gyeonggin Ilbo, were elected as auditors. The articles of association were amended to expand the scope and scale of scholarship activities and to more clearly realize the scholarship ideology.
Meanwhile, the 11th board includes Shin Seon-chul, chairman of Gyeonggi Ilbo; Park Seok-tae, former head of news production at T-Broad Suwon Broadcasting; Kim Jae-ok, chairman of the 33 National Representatives Memorial Project Association; Jang Seong-geun, former chairman of Gyeonggi Central Bar Association; Yoo Jae-myeong, head of news at OBS Gyeonggin TV; and Lee Jae-gyo, secretary general of the Gyeonggi Press Club Association, serving as directors.
Chairman Hong Ki-heon stated, "I feel heavy responsibility in taking on the chairmanship of the Gyeonggi Province Press Foundation Scholarship Association, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year," and added, "I will uphold the legacy of my predecessors to further vitalize the scholarship foundation and take the lead in discovering talented individuals."
