[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Guri City announced on the 2nd that it is providing tax benefits for the purchase of electric and hydrogen vehicles in order to expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles and ease residents' purchase burden.

According to the city, when purchasing electric and hydrogen vehicles, buyers can receive an acquisition tax reduction of up to 1.4 million won, and the vehicle tax is also kept at around 130,000 won per year, which is expected to reduce vehicle maintenance costs.

This guidance was prepared to encourage the expanded use of eco-friendly vehicles and the practice of carbon neutrality, and to help residents more easily understand and take advantage of the relevant benefits.

In particular, electric and hydrogen vehicles produce no exhaust emissions during operation, helping to improve air quality by reducing fine dust, and amid the recent ongoing high oil prices, they can also be expected to reduce fuel costs, drawing attention as a means of transportation that combines both eco-friendliness and economic efficiency.

Kim Dae-beom, head of the city's Tax Administration Division, said, “Eco-friendly vehicles are a means of transportation that allows people to enjoy both environmental protection and economic benefits,” adding, “We hope that residents will continue to actively make use of the various support systems and benefits and take part in eco-friendly living to build a healthy Guri City.”
