135 Immigrants from 20 Countries Launch 'Saebit Global Friends' for Suwon Visit Year
To mark the ‘2026-2027 Suwon Visit Year,’ ‘Saebit Global Friends,’ who will play a role in promoting Suwon to the entire world, has taken its first step.
Suwon Special City held the ‘Saebit Global Friends Switch On Launch Ceremony’ on the 9th in the mid-sized conference room of the city hall.
Saebit Global Friends is composed of 135 immigrants from 20 countries, including China, Vietnam, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Morocco, Nepal, Mexico, Mongolia, Colombia, and Croatia. Immigrants who love Suwon will promote the city’s charm, beauty, and tourism resources to the world. Suwon City recruited immigrants to serve as Saebit Global Friends this past April to May, selecting 135 people.
Saebit Global Friends will guide foreign tourists visiting Suwon around major tourist attractions and festival sites, providing customized guidance, and will create tourism content related to Suwon’s renowned restaurants, festivals, and tourist attractions to promote the city to the world through social media (SNS). They will also carry out monitoring activities on improvements tailored to foreign visitors.
The launch ceremony began with a celebratory performance by art troupes with immigrant backgrounds from China and Vietnam, followed by the reading of the launch pledge by the male and female representatives of Saebit Global Friends, an encouraging address by Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun, and a ‘special lecture on Suwon’s history and tourism stories.’
In their launch pledge, Saebit Global Friends vowed to: △ act with pride and responsibility as global ambassadors widely promoting Suwon’s history, culture, and tourism resources to the world; △ practice warm hospitality and kind guidance toward foreign visitors coming to Suwon, taking the lead in making Suwon a place people want to visit again; and △ connect Suwon’s beauty with the world to widely promote the value and charm of Suwon as a global city.
Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, “I hope the 135 Saebit Global Friends will widely promote Suwon’s attractions and festivals to the entire world,” and urged, “Please become a strong bridge connecting Suwon and the world.”
