Suwon Urban Corporation Holds SNS Initial-Consonant Quiz Event to Join Energy Saving

Suwon Urban Corporation announced that it will hold an ‘SNS event’ starting on the 10th to help overcome energy supply and demand issues.

The event was arranged to spread awareness of the energy supply and demand issues caused by the surge in cooling demand amid the continuing heat waves, and to encourage participation in energy saving.

The event, held through the corporation's four official social media channels – Instagram, Facebook, KakaoTalk, and its blog – asks participants to guess the initial consonants of ‘ㅇㄴㅈ Day.’

‘ㅇㄴㅈ Day’ (Energy Day) was established after the record-high electricity consumption on August 22, 2003. Every year, events such as lights-off campaigns are held to encourage participation in energy conservation.

The event runs until the 22nd, and 40 participants will be selected by lottery to receive Naver Pay points. The winners will be announced on the 25th.

To conserve energy, the corporation is pursuing various energy-saving projects, including resource recycling, solar power generation at parking lots and other sites, the establishment of a water circulation system, the expanded use of reusable containers, and a vehicle rotation system based on the 2nd and 5th digits of license plates.

Lee Young-in, president of Suwon Urban Corporation, said, “If energy supply and demand problems become a reality, it will cause major disruptions not only to daily life but to the entire social system,” adding, “We hope people will join in energy saving through small practices at home, such as unplugging outlets.”
