Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 21st that it will extend operations of the Yongin City Youth Training Center water park in Yangji-eup, Cheonan-gu, which has become a popular summer vacation destination, through September 6.

The water park's original operating period was from July 17 to August 23, but due to the prolonged heat wave despite the arrival of Choseok, visitor numbers have increased. The Yongin Youth Future Foundation, the operating organization of the youth training center, has decided to operate the water park for an additional 14 days.

During the extended operation period, weekdays will be open to groups of 100 or more, while weekends will accommodate individual and family visitors. The facility will remain closed on Mondays for maintenance purposes.

Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break time from noon to 1 p.m.

The water park features a 70-meter-high ever-slide, two large water play areas measuring 20 meters by 10 meters, and two infant water play areas for young children. Family changing rooms, sun beds, and shaded rest areas are also provided.

The city amended the "Installation and Operation of Yongin City Youth Facilities" ordinance at the end of last year, implementing a 40% discount on swimming pool and sledding slope admission fees at the Yongin City Youth Training Center for Yongin residents and organizations based in the city starting January this year.

As a result, from July 17 to August 21 this year (36 days), the water park attracted 8,774 visitors, 2,292 more than the 6,482 visitors during the same period last year.

A city official stated, "Due to record-breaking heat waves this year and the 40% admission fee discount provided to Yongin residents, many citizens have visited the youth training center water park," and added, "With support from residents, we are extending the operating period, so we hope citizens will enjoy the remaining summer heat refreshingly at the water park."
