Yongin Special City Extends Youth Training Center Water Park Until September 6
Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 21st that it will extend operations of the Yongin Youth Training Center water park located in Yangji-eup, Cheoein-gu, which has gained popularity as a summer retreat destination, until September 6.
The water park's original operating period was from July 17 to August 23. However, as visitor numbers increased due to prolonged heat despite the arrival of Choseok, the Yongin Youth Future Foundation, the operating agency of the youth training center, decided to operate the water park for an additional 14 days.
During the extended period, weekdays will be open for groups of 100 or more visitors, while weekends will welcome individual and family visitors. The facility will remain closed on Mondays for maintenance.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break time from noon to 1 p.m.
The water park features a 70-meter-high Everslide, two large water play areas measuring 20 meters by 10 meters, and two infant water play areas for young children. Family changing rooms, sunbeds, and shaded rest areas are also available.
The city amended the "Installation and Operation of Yongin Youth Facilities" ordinance at the end of last year, and starting in January this year, it implemented a 40% discount on admission fees for the youth training center's swimming pool and sledding hill for Yongin citizens and organizations located in the city.
As a result, from July 17 to August 21 this year (36 days), the water park attracted 8,774 visitors, 2,292 more than the 6,482 visitors during the same period last year.
A city official stated, "Due to record-breaking heat this year and the extended heat wave, combined with the 40% admission discount benefit for Yongin citizens, many residents visited the youth training center water park. With support from citizens, we are extending the operating period, and we hope residents will enjoy the remaining summer heat refreshingly at the water park."
