Gwangmyeong City Submits 1.5625 Trillion Won Supplementary Budget to Assembly

Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) announced on the 25th that it has compiled a second supplementary budget for 2026 at a scale of 1.5625 trillion won.

This supplementary budget is 165.7 billion won (11.9%) larger than the first supplementary budget of 1.3968 trillion won. The city submitted the budget proposal to the Gwangmyeong City Assembly on the 24th.

The city has concentrated finances on stabilizing livelihoods, improving citizens' living environments, and establishing the foundation for a future-oriented city, based on the core values of the ninth mayoral term: 'livelihood, peace, and solidarity.'

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won stated, "This supplementary budget focuses on providing more stable support for citizens' lives and preparing steadily for Gwangmyeong's future," and added, "We will create 'Gwangmyeong where everyone prospers together' where all citizens enjoy better lives and grow together, and build a city that powerfully opens a future of 100 years with its citizens."

First, to revitalize the local economy and promote regional consumption, the city has allocated △3.7 billion won for Gwangmyeong Love currency (local currency) issuance support △1.3 billion won for Gyeonggi Province's commerce-friendly urban development project △1 billion won for activation of social solidarity economy, among others.

The city also expanded projects for improving citizens' living environments and creating a sustainable city. These include △2.2 billion won for Anyang Stream Regional Garden construction △2 billion won for damaged land restoration in Haan District 2 △1.8 billion won for electric vehicle purchase subsidies △1 billion won for public restroom environment improvement △900 million won for smart bus stop installation △300 million won for Gahak Mountain neighborhood park development, among others.

To promote balanced development between the original downtown and new city areas and lay the foundation for a premium city for the next 100 years, the city will allocate funds to △1 billion won for Soha District 2 New Village project △900 million won for Saetter Village small-scale housing maintenance management plan project △500 million won for Mokgam Bridge expansion construction basic design △400 million won for Guil Station transit center basic design.

The second supplementary budget proposal is expected to be confirmed on September 18th after deliberation at the Gwangmyeong City Assembly's 302nd regular session scheduled for September 3rd.
