Uiwang City (Mayor Kim Sung-je) has successfully concluded the ‘Liberation Day Commemorative Photo Exhibition’ that ran from August 3rd in the first-floor lobby of City Hall to mark the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day.

This exhibition was implemented to widely publicize the historical significance of Liberation Day and introduce citizens to Uiwang's history of independence movements and commemorative assets. It was designed so that any citizen could naturally view it in their daily lives.

The exhibition introduced photos related to Liberation Day, including the training of independence fighters and the establishment of the Korean Liberation Army, with cooperation from the Gyeonggi Chapter of the Korean Independence Movement Society. Additionally, the ‘Youth Independence Textbook’ produced by the Poil Youth Culture Center under the Uiwang City Youth Foundation through the 2025 National Patriots and Veterans Affairs Ministry project was also displayed, familiarizing citizens with the meaning of independence movements in the Uiwang region.

In particular, the independence textbook includes the activities of local independence activists Lee Hee-seung, Park Sung-sam, Sung Joo-bok, and Lee Bong-geun, as well as information on commemorative locations within the city such as Uiwang Hangeul Park and the Wangsong Lake Monument to Independence Fighters, enabling citizens to specifically understand the commemorative history of our region.
