Suwon Special City Recruits Participants for First 'Suwon Eco Job Day'

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is recruiting 180 middle and high school students, university students, and young adults to participate in the 'Suwon Eco Job Day (SUWON ECO JOB DAY)' for exploring career paths in the environmental field by September 4.

Held for the first time this year, Suwon Eco Job Day is a career-linked environmental mentoring event where field practitioners working in the environmental sector meet with youth and young adults to discuss occupations. It is jointly hosted by Suwon City and the Gyeonggi Province Suwon Office of Education.

The event will be held three times at the Suwon City Hall Conference Room on September 18-19. Sessions include: △September 18 at 2:00 p.m. for 60 university students and young adults △September 19 at 9:30 a.m. for 60 middle and high school students △September 19 at 2:30 p.m. for 60 university students and young adults. Young adults aged 19-34 may participate.

Mentors are environmental professionals from six fields: △Suwon City environmental civil servants △environmental organization activists △provincial education office environmental affairs supervisors △Samsung Electronics practitioners △environmental science professors △Korea Meteorological Administration officials.

Participants will gather at round tables with mentors to discuss roles in the environmental field, actual work duties, and career paths. Approximately one mentor and 10 participants will sit at each round table, and participants will move between tables to experience various occupations.

At the young adult session on September 19 afternoon, a 'Sweet Climate Busking' performance supported by the Korea Meteorological Administration Metropolitan Office will also be held.

Those wishing to participate can apply by scanning the QR code for their age group on the promotional material with a smartphone. Middle and high school students must be from the Suwon area, while university students and young adults can apply if they are enrolled at a university in Suwon City or reside in Suwon City.

An official from Suwon City stated, "Youth and young adults interested in the environment will be able to meet field practitioners, understand occupations in the environmental field, and explore their career paths," and added, "We hope many young people will participate and discover diverse career opportunities in the environmental sector."
