Suwon Special City Recruits Participants for First 'Suwon Eco Job Day'

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is recruiting 180 middle and high school students, university students, and young adults to participate in the 'Suwon Eco Job Day (SUWON ECO JOB DAY),' a career exploration event in the environmental field, by September 4.

The Suwon Eco Job Day, being held for the first time this year, is a career-linked environmental mentoring event where field professionals working in the environmental sector meet with youth and young adults to discuss career-related topics. It is jointly hosted by Suwon City and the Gyeonggi Suwon Office of Education.

It will be held three times on September 18-19 in the Central Conference Room of Suwon City Hall. Sessions are scheduled for: △September 18 at 2 p.m. for 60 university students and young adults △September 19 at 9:30 a.m. for 60 middle and high school students △September 19 at 2:30 p.m. for 60 university students and young adults. Young adults aged 19-34 are eligible to participate.

Mentors include six environmental professionals from the fields of: △Suwon City environmental civil servants △Environmental organization activists △Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education environmental specialist scholars △Samsung Electronics practitioners △University environmental science professors △Korea Meteorological Administration officials.

Participants will engage in roundtable discussions with mentors about roles in the environmental field, actual work duties, and career paths. Each roundtable brings together one mentor and approximately 10 participants, allowing participants to move between roundtables to experience various careers.

At the September 19 afternoon session for young adults, a 'Sweet Climate Busking' performance supported by the Korea Meteorological Administration will also be held.

Those wishing to participate can apply by scanning the QR code for their respective category on the promotional material using a smartphone. Middle and high school students must be from the Suwon area, while university students and young adults must be current students at universities located in Suwon City or residents of Suwon City.

A Suwon City official stated, "Youth and young adults interested in the environment will be able to meet field professionals, understand environmental sector careers, and explore their career paths," adding, "We hope many youth and young adults will participate and discover diverse career opportunities in the environmental field."
