Yongin Special City announced on the 27th that it plans to construct a public complex cultural welfare center on the site of a former special school in Sungbok-dong, Suji-gu.

Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City instructed on the 25th at the 'Ninth-term Election Pledge Project Progress Report Meeting' to promptly proceed with a project to construct a complex center with cultural and sports facilities, public office buildings, and welfare facilities on a 10,627-square-meter site in Sungbok-dong, 177 area.

The mayor stated, "We must end residents' long-standing concerns about the former special school site in Sungbok-dong," and added, "Study ways to establish a complex facility where residents can enjoy cultural and artistic activities, use sports facilities, and receive welfare services, and present a blueprint."

The site was selected by the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education in 2014 as a location for a special school, but the school was built elsewhere, leaving the site as a vacant lot for an extended period.
