Suwon Special City Awards Winners of 19th National Startup and Invention Competition

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) held an awards ceremony for the '19th National Startup·Invention Competition' on the 26th at Novotel Ambassador Suwon and presented certificates to the winning teams.

The National Startup·Invention Competition, hosted by Suwon Special City and organized by the Suwon Urban Development Foundation and Samil Industrial High School, was organized to invigorate startup and invention activities among youth and to discover and cultivate future talent with creative ideas and invention capabilities.

This year, ten teams including Kim Min-jun from Jeju Central High School (motion energy-based wireless centrifugal smart umbrella drying system) won the Grand Prize, and fifteen teams including Lee Dong-geon from Samil Industrial High School (LumiMind) won the Excellence Award. A total of 84 teams and three outstanding schools were honored, including Grand Prize and Excellence Award recipients.

Lee Won-gu, director of Suwon City's Economic Policy Division, presented certificates to six teams selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT Minister's Award among the Grand Prize winners and the Suwon Mayor's Award (Special Award).

A Suwon City official said, "We hope that the students' creative ideas and spirit of challenge will serve as a foundation for innovation that leads the future," and "We will continue to support young people so they can show interest in startup and invention and grow into future talent."
