Suwon Metropolitan City Holds Public Information Session on Land Compensation for R&D Science Park
Suwon Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) held a 'Public Information Session on Land Compensation for the Suwon R&D Science Park Project' on the 27th at the conference hall of the Ipbuk-dong Administrative Welfare Center, providing residents with information on the project's progress and compensation procedures.
The briefing was attended by landowners and related stakeholders within the project area for the Suwon R&D Science Park.
An official from the Suwon City Development Administration Team explained the current status and schedule of the Suwon R&D Science Park project and provided detailed explanations on the standards and procedures for land compensation (acquisition) based on the 'Act on the Acquisition of and Compensation for Land, etc. for Public Projects,' as well as the criteria for calculating compensation amounts. A question-and-answer session followed the project briefing.
The Suwon R&D Science Park project involves developing a research complex equipped with advanced technology on a 352,600-square-meter site in Ipbuk-dong, Gwonseon-gu. The goal is to attract cutting-edge research companies in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and biotechnology, and to become a 'Global Advanced R&D Hub' leading the world.
The site will also include public facilities such as research and development facilities, university-industry cooperation centers, residential complexes for researchers and workers, neighborhood commercial facilities, and neighborhood parks. Plans call for creating a work-residential (職住) integrated environment where workplaces and homes are in close proximity.
Suwon City designated the R&D Science Park development site as an urban development district in January and announced the development plan. The city plans to announce the implementation plan approval in May 2027 and conduct construction projects from 2027 to 2030.
A Suwon City official stated, "We will provide landowners with accurate information to build consensus on the project and pursue early compensation negotiations," and added, "We will do our best to ensure the Suwon R&D Science Park project is smoothly promoted."
