Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide financial support for repairs to safety facilities and common and private areas of jeonse fraud victim residences that are not properly maintained due to landlord absence. The province is accepting applications for the second half of the "Emergency Management Support Project for Jeonse Fraud Victim Residences" from August 26 to September 30.

Target residences will receive up to 20 million won in support for common area repairs including fire safety, elevators, electricity, lighting, safety facilities, security equipment, and waterproofing and pipe repairs. Private areas within individual units will also receive repair cost support of up to 5 million won per household.

For cases where households designated as jeonse fraud victims remain vacant, the province will also cover fire safety management and elevator maintenance costs for those units. This measure aims to prevent additional safety accidents and damages in victim residences where management is not properly conducted due to absent or unreachable landlords.

Gyeonggi Province supported a total of 38 cases in the first half of this year. Repairs mainly focused on facilities directly related to residents' residential safety, including waterproofing and leak prevention, heating and piping, and fire safety and elevators. In the satisfaction survey, all 38 respondents answered "very satisfied."

Applications can be submitted to the relevant department of the city or county where the victim residence is located. Detailed information is available on the Gyeonggi Housing Welfare Portal (https://housing.gg.go.kr/) under "Jeonse Damage Center-Announcements" or on the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation website (https://www.gh.or.kr/gh/) under "Information Disclosure-Announcements."

Kim Tae-soo, director of the Housing Policy Division at Gyeonggi Province, said, "This is a project to ensure the safety of jeonse fraud victim residences that are difficult to maintain due to landlord absence and to alleviate housing anxiety for victimized tenants," adding, "We will continue to provide support that victims can experience in their actual daily lives."
