Gwangju City Listens to Youth Policy Proposals… Expands ‘Direct Line to Mayor’s Office’ Outreach

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Gwangju City is continuing its field-centered communication governance by expanding its ‘Direct Line to the Mayor’s Office.’

On the 8th, the city held a ‘regular meeting of the Youth Participation Committee and the Youth Education Council’ at the Gwangju City Youth Training Center, where it listened to policy proposals directly identified by 40 youth members from the region.

This regular meeting was arranged in connection with the ‘100 Days of Direct Field Contact,’ a key communication policy of the 9th popularly elected administration. The youth presented policy ideas developed through investigation and discussion across five standing committees: culture and sports, ecology and environment, health and safety, education and career, and character and autonomy.

Mayor Park Gwan-yeol said, “The voices of young people are precious assets that go beyond mere opinions to change the future of the city,” adding, “In keeping with the purpose of the ‘Direct Line to the Mayor’s Office,’ which meets citizens directly in the field, we will make efforts not to take the youth’s proposals lightly but to reflect them in city administration.”
