Byeongjeom-gu in Hwaseong Special City Upgrades Aging Steel Tree Guards with Artificial Turf Panels
Byeongjeom-gu in Hwaseong Special City announced on the 21st that it has replaced aging steel tree guards with artificial turf protection panels to enhance pedestrian safety and create a more pleasant street environment.
The existing steel tree guards had become corroded and damaged over years of use, with some lifting at the edges, creating inconvenience for pedestrians and raising safety concerns. The deteriorated guards have also been criticized for detracting from the urban landscape.
The newly installed artificial turf panels are softer and provide a neater appearance than the previous steel guards, blending naturally with the street trees and surrounding scenery. Byeongjeom-gu expects that this maintenance will enhance pedestrian safety while creating a more pleasant and orderly street environment.
Lee Taek-gu, head of Byeongjeom-gu Office, stated, "Tree guards are small facilities, but they are closely related to the pedestrian environment through which citizens pass daily," and added, "I hope this maintenance will help enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment where street trees and surrounding scenery harmonize."
Going forward, Byeongjeom-gu plans to carefully monitor and maintain facilities that threaten pedestrian safety or damage the urban landscape around residential areas, so that citizens can enjoy a safer and more pleasant pedestrian environment in their daily lives.
