Byeongjeom-gu District, Hwaseong Special City Upgrades Aging Metal Tree Guards with Artificial Turf Panels

Byeongjeom-gu District, Hwaseong Special City announced on the 21st that it has replaced aging metal tree guards with artificial turf protective panels to enhance pedestrian safety and create a more pleasant street environment.

The existing metal tree guards had deteriorated or been damaged after prolonged use, with some panels lifting, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and raising concerns about safety accidents. The deteriorated panels have also been criticized for damaging the urban landscape.

The newly installed artificial turf protective panels are softer and cleaner in appearance compared to the existing metal panels and blend naturally with the street trees and surrounding scenery. Byeongjeom-gu expects that through this maintenance, pedestrian safety will be enhanced while creating a more pleasant and well-organized street environment.

Lee Taek-gu, head of Byeongjeom-gu District, stated, "Tree guards are small facilities, but they are closely related to the pedestrian environment where citizens walk daily," and added, "We hope this maintenance will help enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment where street trees and the surrounding landscape are in harmony."

Going forward, Byeongjeom-gu plans to carefully inspect and maintain facilities in residential areas that threaten pedestrian safety or damage the urban landscape, so that citizens can enjoy a safer and more pleasant pedestrian environment in their daily lives.
