Hwaseong Special City's Byeongjeom-gu Renovates Aging Metal Tree Guards with Artificial Turf Protectors

Byeongjeom-gu in Hwaseong Special City announced on the 21st that it has replaced aging metal tree guards with artificial turf protectors to enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment.

The existing metal tree guards had become corroded or damaged over prolonged use, with some sections lifting, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and raising concerns about safety accidents. The deteriorated guards also posed problems by detracting from the urban landscape.

The newly installed artificial turf protectors are characterized by a softer and cleaner appearance compared to the existing metal guards and blend naturally with the street trees and surrounding scenery. Byeongjeom-gu expects that this renovation will enhance pedestrian safety while creating a more pleasant and well-maintained street environment.

Byeongjeom-gu District Chief Lee Taek-gu stated, "Tree guards are small facilities, but they are closely related to the pedestrian environment that citizens navigate daily," and added, "We hope that this renovation will help increase pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment where street trees and surrounding landscapes harmonize."

Byeongjeom-gu plans to continue carefully inspecting and maintaining facilities around residential areas that threaten pedestrian safety or damage the urban landscape, so that citizens can enjoy a safer and more pleasant pedestrian environment in their daily lives.
