Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 24th that it has developed a temporary public parking lot with a total capacity of 107 spaces on idle land in the vicinity of 125-1, Dongcheon-dong, Suji-gu.

The area has apartments, residential buildings, and restaurants densely concentrated in the vicinity, but residents and customers have experienced inconvenience due to insufficient parking spaces.

In response, the city underwent a process to gather local residents' opinions in May and developed a temporary public parking lot with a total area of 4,267 square meters to resolve the parking shortage in the Dongcheon-dong area.

The city engaged in continuous consultations with the landowner to utilize idle land within the Dongcheon 2 District urban development project as a public parking lot, and secured the site through a free lease agreement, significantly reducing fiscal burden.

Subsequently, the landowner installed basic parking lot facilities such as gravel paving and fences, while the city provided convenience facilities necessary for use, including vehicle access roads and height restriction facilities, completing the parking lot development.

A city official said, "We will continue to develop temporary public parking lots utilizing idle land surrounding residential areas and commercial districts where parking environment improvements are urgent, not just in Dongcheon-dong."
