Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 24th that it has created a temporary public parking lot with a total of 107 spaces on vacant land at 125-1, Dongcheon-dong, Suji-gu.

The area has dense clusters of apartments, residences, and restaurants nearby, but residents and commercial users have faced inconvenience due to insufficient parking spaces.

In response, the city went through a process of gathering local resident opinions in May and created a temporary public parking lot covering a total area of 4,267㎡ to resolve parking shortages in the Dongcheon-dong area.

The city continuously consulted with landowners to utilize vacant land within the Dongcheon 2 District Urban Development Project area as a public parking lot, and secured the site through a free lease agreement, thereby significantly reducing financial burden.

Subsequently, the landowner installed basic parking lot facilities such as gravel surfacing and fences, while the city prepared convenient facilities necessary for operation including vehicle access roads and height restriction facilities, completing the parking lot construction.

A city official stated, "We will continue to create temporary public parking lots utilizing vacant land around residential and commercial areas where parking environment improvements are urgent, not only in Dongcheon-dong."
