Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Education Promotion Institute Receives Minister of Education Commendation for Excellence in Lifelong Education
The Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Education Promotion Institute participated in the '1st Korea Literacy Education Policy Exhibition' held at Osco Convention Center in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province on the 27th and 28th, operating a promotional experience center to showcase Gyeonggi Province's literacy education policies and achievements.
The exhibition was hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Institute for Lifelong Education, with participation from metropolitan cities, provinces, local governments, and lifelong education institutions across the nation.
On the 27th, the first day of the event, the Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Education Promotion Institute received a commendation from the Minister of Education at the 'Commendation Ceremony for Excellence in Lifelong Education for 2026 Literacy Month' for its contributions to adult literacy education support and digital literacy competency enhancement.
During the exhibition period, the Gyeonggi Province booth operated digital literacy programs with the theme 'Gyeonggi Province's First Steps in Literacy, One Step Forward with Digital' in which visitors could directly participate and experience. Visitors learned how to make hospital reservations and order café beverages using kiosks, and viewed a digital literacy poetry exhibition utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).
Additionally, digital teaching materials developed in-house by the Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Education Promotion Institute—including the elementary supplementary textbook series 'More' and the preliminary middle school series 'Stepping Stone'—were displayed, and a collaborative booth with all 31 cities and counties shared regional best practice cases.
Acting Director Park Myung-hye of the Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Education Promotion Institute stated, "This was an opportunity to showcase Gyeonggi Province's accumulated achievements in literacy education to the nation while demonstrating the direction literacy education should take in the AI and digital era," adding, "We will continuously expand support for digital literacy education so that learning essential to the lives of our residents can take place."
