Yongin City Completes Additional 0.7㎞ Section of Hakil-ri Main Forest Road

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 27th that it has newly constructed a 0.7㎞ section of main forest road in the area around lot 49-1, Hakil-ri, Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu. A forest road refers to a road constructed in mountains for forest management and maintenance.

To respond to forest disasters and provide forest recreation services to citizens, the city has been constructing a main forest road in the Hakil-ri area with a length of 2.8㎞ after undergoing a feasibility assessment for forest roads in 2024. Previously, the city completed a 1.4㎞ section in 2025.

The city invested 256.78 million won and commenced extension work on the main forest road in May of this year, completing inspection of the additional 0.7㎞ section on the 23rd. In reflecting on-site review opinions from Gyeonggi Province, the city additionally reinforced disaster prevention structures such as mesh bag silt fences to stabilize drainage facilities and slopes, and constructed the forest road with a gradient of 8% or less to ensure smooth vehicle traffic.

A city official stated, "We expect this project will enhance accessibility for forest management equipment and personnel, contributing to efficient forest management," and added, "We will continue to expand forest management infrastructure to proactively respond to forest disasters and enable citizens to use forests more conveniently."

Meanwhile, the city plans to complete construction of the remaining sections by the end of 2027, establish a circular forest road network by connecting Hakil-ri forest road with the Korea Forest Service's forest roads, thereby linking major forests extending from Wonsam-myeon to Idong-eup in Cheoin-gu.
