At an executive civil servants meeting held on the 6th in the city hall's video conference room, Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il praised civil servants for their efforts in organizing Citizens' Day and the Joayong Festival, and emphasized the need for proactive administration that removes departmental silos.

Mayor Lee stated, "I extend my gratitude to the civil servants who worked hard to make Citizens' Day and the Joayong Festival successful. Since many city characters gather at the festival, we need to research more next year and add something new, such as programs utilizing diverse characters."

Mayor Lee said, "As Yongin is advancing into a global semiconductor-centered city, we need to consider long-term planning for semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) festivals. I would like to request that you plan a festival where visitors to Yongin can learn about semiconductors and gain hands-on experience."

The meeting discussed the "2026 Local Government Innovation Evaluation Implementation Plan." The government annually evaluates innovation cases of local governments across 243 local authorities using key indicators including ▲strengthening citizen communication and participation ▲revitalizing private-public cooperation ▲improving citizen services using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology ▲improving citizen services and addressing administrative blind spots.

Mayor Lee said, "We have conducted various activities that citizens can feel, such as parent communication forums, resident meetings, and safety culture salons where the private and public sectors cooperate. Proactive administration is not done through words but through action. I hope all civil servants will make efforts in proactive administration that citizens can appreciate, and I ask you to actively engage in the local government innovation evaluation."

Major agenda items discussed at the meeting included the "8th Yongin Jung-ang Market Starlight Square Night Market," "Yongin Green Eco Park Development Project," "Creating Barrier-Free Transportation Environment and Expanding Support for Transportation-Disadvantaged Groups," "Gimryang-jang and Singal-ogil Festival with Local Commerce," and "Status of Cheoin-gu Agricultural Land Census."

Regarding the Cheoin-gu agricultural land census, Mayor Lee instructed, "Please reflect the diverse voices from the field and research improvement measures and items to request from the government."

Mayor Lee also said, "Tonight at 8 p.m., a friendly match between Korea and Uzbekistan national teams will be held at Yongin Mir Stadium, and a large crowd of spectators is expected. Please carefully monitor from the start of the match until the very last moment when spectators leave to ensure no safety accidents occur."
