The King Sejong Institute Foundation is launching a "Hangeul Day 100th Anniversary Global Declaration Campaign" to commemorate the centennial of the proclamation of Hangeul Day. Beginning in August, 50 days before Hangeul Day, a relay video series featuring 100 leaders from various fields sharing messages about Hangeul will be serialized on the foundation's YouTube channel.

The campaign features Foundation Chairman Jeon Woo-yong along with academics and cultural figures, as well as foreign instructors teaching Korean at King Sejong Institutes abroad. Videos featuring individuals such as Basma Naguib, a Korean language instructor from Egypt, who learned Hangeul and now teaches it, demonstrate how Hangeul is expanding beyond being a writing system for Koreans to become a script for people around the world. The King Sejong Institute is an institution operating in over 80 countries worldwide responsible for Korean language and culture education, and the number of students on waiting lists continues to grow alongside the spread of Korean Wave culture.
The foundation will continue uploading videos through Hangeul Day itself and plans to present a special program marking the 100th anniversary on broadcast. Chairman Jeon stated, "I hope the historical significance of the proclamation of the name Hangeul becomes more widely known."
