Rep. Kim Yong-nam Promises Construction of Second Senior Welfare Center in Paldal-gu

Rep. Kim Yong-nam (Saenuri Party, Suwon District) attended the 2016 Senior Talent-Sharing Activity Launching Ceremony held at the Korea Senior Association Suwon City Paldal-gu Chapter on the 23rd, where he promised to construct a second senior welfare center in Paldal-gu.

According to Rep. Kim's office, among the total population of Paldal-gu (198,968 people), the elderly ratio stands at 11.8% (23,428 people), confirming it has the highest elderly population ratio compared to other districts in Suwon City. (Jangan-gu 9.8%, Gwonseon-gu 8.4%, Yeongtong-gu 5.4%, Suwon City overall 8.5%)

However, senior welfare centers are currently operated only in Jangan-gu (2 facilities), Gwonseon-gu (2 facilities), and Yeongtong-gu (1 facility), while Paldal-gu has no senior welfare center currently in operation, making the senior welfare services in Paldal-gu very insufficient.

According to Rep. Kim's office, a senior welfare center is under construction in Haenggung-dong, Paldal-gu with a completion target of 2017, but considering Paldal-gu's elderly population ratio, this is insufficient.

In response, Rep. Kim has pledged a senior-tailored promise to promptly support the completion of the Haenggung-dong senior welfare center and additionally construct a second senior welfare center in Paldal-gu in Hwaseo 1-dong to ensure there are no shortcomings in senior welfare services.

Rep. Kim stated, "I will do my best to create a comfortable Paldal-gu for our elderly," and "To strengthen senior welfare, Kim Yong-nam will show results through action."
