Suwon Agricultural Technology Center to Host 'Suwon Urban Agriculture Little Yard' on the 10th
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] The Suwon Agricultural Technology Center will hold the 'Suwon Urban Agriculture Little Yard' at Tapdong Citizens' Farm in Gwonseon-gu from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 10th.
The Urban Agriculture Little Yard, the first event since Tapdong Citizens' Farm opened in April, is a festival where visitors can experience urban agriculture and enjoy cultural performances. Anyone can participate.
The festival features ▲urban agriculture experience and exhibitions ▲autumn cultural performances ▲kimchi-making with family, and other five-sense satisfaction experience programs where visitors can see, hear, and enjoy.
The 'urban agriculture experience and exhibition' section will offer experience programs such as strawberry seedling planting and making potato hotteok and vegetable pickles, as well as an exhibition of handcraft artists' works.
A kimchi-making experience event with participation of around 100 families will also be held. Participants will be able to make kimchi using eco-friendly agricultural products such as radishes and cabbages grown by local farmers. In addition, supplementary events including 'autumn cultural performances,' 'garden produce sales,' and traditional game experiences will be operated.
Choi Kwang-gyun, director of the city's Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will continue to work to establish Tapdong Citizens' Farm as a regional landmark."
Meanwhile, the city relocated the citizens' farm that had been operated in Dangsudong to Tapdong, which opened in April. Tapdong Citizens' Farm operates an 'experience vegetable garden' and an 'educational vegetable garden' for urban farmer and children farmer training. Various programs including urban agriculture education and urban agriculture manager training are also underway. Next year, the city plans to create a customized vegetable garden practice facility and introduce a new 'healing vegetable garden program' targeting people with disabilities.
