Osan City Family Center Construction Project to Receive 1.5 Billion Won in National Funding

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City's Family Center construction project has been selected for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's "Daily-Life SOC Complexification Project" and will receive 1.5 billion won in national funding.

The "Daily-Life SOC Complexification Project" is an undertaking that constructs facilities necessary for daily living—such as libraries, childcare facilities, and cultural centers—into a single building. In December last year, the city applied for the project to construct a Family Center at the new complex government building site in Namchon-dong under the "Daily-Life SOC Complexification Project."

In the competition results announced on the 8th, the city was finally selected as a municipal recipient of the "Daily-Life SOC Complexification Project" and has secured 1.5 billion won in national funding through 2022.

The Family Center will establish a complex facility that includes an Administrative Welfare Center, Together Care Center, Dementia Relief Center, Health and Welfare Center, Community Culture Center, and Library. It will serve as a customized one-stop service provider for strengthening family care support, recovery of local communities through intergenerational and gender communication, and provision of integrated family services centered on the region.

The Family Center is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2022. The Osan City Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center will relocate there, and facilities such as a shared childcare play area, Together Care Center, and counseling and education rooms will be arranged.

Osan City Mayor Kwak Sang-wook stated, "Going forward, we will continue to promote various Daily-Life SOC complexification projects to expand the infrastructure necessary for daily living," and added, "We will make our best efforts in project implementation so that the Family Center can become a cultural and living space for local residents."
