Suwon City Urban Parks Managed at a Glance with Manual
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 16th that it has produced the 'Suwon City Urban Parks Operation and Management Manual' to systematically and efficiently manage urban parks, allowing users to check everything from park development methods to facility operation and management expertise at a glance.
The manual contains detailed standards including park development guidelines (landscape planting, eco-friendly paving plans, etc.), installation and safety management of park facilities, and prohibited activities within urban parks.
The manual is composed of 11 chapters covering ▲matters to check during park development and maintenance ▲park facility management ▲park use management ▲park remodeling projects ▲citizen organization participation projects ▲landscape management, etc., and uses photographs and charts to convey urban park operation and management methods.
To safely operate and manage urban parks, regular safety inspections of facilities such as exercise equipment within parks must be conducted.
In particular, the manual stipulates that thorough facility inspections must be performed in preparation for the thawing season (February) and typhoons (August-September) to prevent safety accidents.
Additionally, when developing parks and installing facilities to increase accessibility for park users, considerations must be given to ensure that all citizens, regardless of gender, age, or disability status, can use facilities comfortably.
For example, comprehensive information signs should be installed avoiding stairs and slopes, and tourist information signs should be placed in ways that do not inconvenience pedestrians.
Furthermore, the management regulations also include provisions to strictly enforce rules against activities that cause severe noise or odors harming others, damaging park facilities or trees, and failing to collect pet waste, with penalties including fines imposed when necessary.
Additionally, users can find various information including safety and hygiene management of children's playgrounds installed in urban parks, installation and management of dog parks, and guidelines for using camping sites within the city.
The city plans to actively utilize the 'Urban Parks Operation and Management Manual' produced this time in job competency enhancement training conducted twice a year targeting park management staff and new public officials.
Oh Gi-young, head of the Parks Management Division at Suwon City Park and Greenery Business Office, said, "This manual was produced through research and self-production by employees of Suwon City's Parks Management Division," and added, "We will do our best to improve the quality of administrative services in the greenery sector."
