Osan City to Distribute 30,000 Ttaseum Masks Free to Daycare Centers and Kindergartens
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City announced on the 6th that following the free distribution of approximately 62,000 replaceable-filter 'Ttaseum masks' to all elementary, middle, and high school students in the city, it will also distribute 30,000 masks free of charge to all young children at daycare centers and kindergartens in the city.
Ttaseum masks will be provided to approximately 15,000 children at 257 daycare centers and 47 kindergartens in the city, with 2 masks per child.
The city decided to support mask distribution to ease concerns of parents of infants and young children who are struggling to secure small-sized masks due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation and mask shortages.
The production of Ttaseum masks is a project to protect citizens from COVID-19 and address the mask shortage situation.
Ttaseum masks are cloth masks produced by the Osan City Social Cooperative that can be repeatedly used by replacing filters on functional fabric. Following the distribution of 2,100 masks to transportation workers such as taxi and bus drivers on the 30th of last month, distribution of 62,000 masks to 43 elementary, middle, and high schools in the city began from the 1st.
A city official stated, "By providing small-sized Ttaseum masks to infant and young child facilities in the city, we hope children can use daycare centers and kindergartens with greater peace of mind," and added, "Until the day COVID-19 is eradicated and children return to normal life, we will do our best in prevention activities and support."
Meanwhile, the city has so far provided approximately 29,000 masks and 6,500 hand sanitizers to daycare centers.
