The city distributed 100,000 won in disaster basic income to 106,220 people through April 16. This represents 19.92% of applicants who have received the disaster basic income.

Suwon Disaster Basic Income distributes 100,000 won per person to all citizens registered as residents of Suwon as of 0:00 on April 2.

Citizens should visit the city website (https://www.suwon.go.kr), click on 'Suwon Disaster Basic Income Application Page Quick Link,' and complete identity verification. After entering personal information and account number, the application is completed upon saving.

Cash deposits are made within one week of application. Minors (persons born on or after April 3, 2001) may have a parent as the household head apply on their behalf.

To prevent congestion, a '5-day application system' is implemented in the same manner as the 'mask purchase 5-day system.' People born in years ending in 1 or 6 must apply on Mondays; 2 or 7 on Tuesdays; 3 or 8 on Wednesdays; 4 or 9 on Thursdays; and 5 or 0 on Fridays. From April 18 onward, all citizens can apply on weekends and public holidays regardless of birth year.

Starting April 20, citizens can visit their respective dong administrative welfare centers to apply. The in-person application period runs through May 29. The 5-day system also applies to in-person applications.

From April 20 to May 17, applications are accepted at dong administrative welfare centers from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. From May 18-29, applications are accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.

For in-person applications, citizens must complete an application form (power of attorney) and submit it with an ID copy and bank passbook copy. Citizens applying at dong administrative welfare centers from May 1-29 can receive disaster basic income in cash or local currency (Suwon Pay).

Meanwhile, 'Gyeonggi Province Disaster Basic Income,' which distributes 100,000 won per person to all Gyeonggi Province residents including Suwon citizens, has been accepting online applications since April 9. Online applications are available on the website (https://basicincome.gg.go.kr).

Residents registered in Gyeonggi Province from midnight on March 23 until the application deadline are eligible to apply.

From April 20 to July 31, citizens can apply for prepaid cards at NH Bank or their respective dong administrative welfare centers. After completing and submitting an application form, citizens receive the card and can use it once activation is completed.

In-person applications at NH Bank and dong administrative welfare centers operate on a 5-day system. Application periods vary by household size. Households with 4 or more members should apply from April 20-26; 3-member households from April 27 to May 3; 2-member households from May 4-10. Single-person households and households that have not yet applied must apply from May 11-17, and from May 18 to July 31, anyone can apply regardless of household size.

A movement to help those in need through disaster basic income is underway. The city and Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea are running a 'Overcoming Suwon Together with Love Fruit' sharing campaign from April 9, encouraging citizens to donate their disaster basic income. The collected donations will be quickly distributed to citizens affected by the COVID-19 crisis. As of 2:00 p.m. on April 17, total donations amount to 88.576 million won (301 donations).

Citizens wishing to donate can deposit funds into the special fundraising account (NH Bank 317-0003-8354-31, Account Holder: Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea) or place donations in collection boxes installed at each dong administrative welfare center. Consultation services are available at donation booths in dong administrative welfare centers.

Citizens can select the beneficiaries they wish to help—small business owners, unemployed youth, and low-income and vulnerable citizens suffering from the COVID-19 crisis—on designated donation forms when making their contributions.
