Osan City Officials Participate in Blood Drive to Address Worsening Supply

[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Osan City launched a "Civil Servants' Love Blood Donation Campaign" on the 27th and 28th at Osan City Hall Plaza.

The blood donation campaign was organized to overcome the increasingly difficult blood supply situation caused by the rapid spread of COVID-19 infections and continued natural disasters, while fostering an atmosphere of participation in blood donation. A COVID-19 prevention campaign was also conducted alongside the donation drive.

A city official stated, "We anticipated low participation in blood donation due to concerns about COVID-19 virus spread, but instead we saw more employees and citizens participate than usual," adding, "We are grateful for the life-sharing practices of our city civil servants and citizens. We urge continued active participation in the future."

An official from the Korean Red Cross Gyeonggi Blood Center said, "We are thoroughly managing personal hygiene for blood collection staff and disinfecting blood donation buses so that donors can participate in blood donation with peace of mind," and urged participation in blood donation so that patients urgently requiring transfusion can continue their precious lives.

Meanwhile, the city has been conducting monthly blood donation campaigns since February when COVID-19 began spreading.
